Everything under one roof
Private function room for hire
The George & Dragon has a private function room available for hire — licensed for civil ceremonies and marriages. Whether it's a wedding ceremony, breakfast, or evening reception, the room can be hired exclusively for your event.
Rooms for your guests
With 15 comfortable rooms above the pub — 14 ensuite and 1 with a private bathroom — your guests can stay the night without needing to arrange transport. Wake up, have breakfast, and enjoy the morning after.
Wedding dining & drinks
From a relaxed wedding breakfast to an evening reception, we can put together food and drink that suits your day. Honest pub cooking, a well-set table, and a bar that's open for your guests.
Private garden
The George & Dragon has a private garden exclusively available to wedding guests. A peaceful outdoor space for drinks, photographs, and a breath of fresh air — all within the grounds of the inn.
The Location
Long Melford, Suffolk
Long Melford is widely regarded as one of Suffolk's most beautiful villages — a long village green, historic Holy Trinity Church, Melford Hall, and a high street full of independent shops and galleries. It's a short drive from Sudbury and well-connected from across the region.
The George & Dragon sits right on the main street, within easy walking distance of the church and green — making it a natural choice for couples getting married in Long Melford.
